Hangar 13 confirms new Mafia game in the works
Rumors had been floating around about a new Mafia game by game development studio, Hangar 13. Today it has been confirmed. And if the rest of the original rumors are to be believed, then this new entry will be a prequel.
According to VGC, an interview of some of the staff on-hand during the development of the original Mafia games, in celebration of the 20th anniversary, dropped this amazing piece of news right at the end of the interview.
Interviewer: Lastly, can you tell us anything about what's next for the Mafia franchise?
Roman Hladík, General Manager at Hangar 13: I'm happy to confirm we've started work on an all-new Mafia project! While it's a few years away and we can't share anything more right now, we're really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories.

Mafia 2 is a game I have played multiple times, which is a rarity for me. Although Mafia 3 was not as well received, it was still a game that I enjoyed. The main point that carries the games is the story, especially the connected threads between the different entries in the original Mafia Trilogy.
Knowing how the video game corporate overlords like to cancel games left-and-right when they aren’t major hits, I was not hopeful of another Mafia game being released. I am glad to be wrong in this instance, but then again, it could still be axed, much like Hangar 13’s previous in-development game, which went by the codename Volt.
