Netflix and Nippon TV deal to bring several premiere anime series to Netflix worldwide

According to a press release (source: ANN) we will soon see more premiere anime series on the Netflix platform.

Although some of the series are already available on Netflix in some countries, this deal will expand it to more countries. If you’re wondering why these series were not available everywhere to begin with, it is due to complex intellectual property (IP) contracts limiting things by region.

According to ANN, “Netflix will add the first 38 episodes of the 2011 Hunter x Hunter television anime in 104 countries, Ouran High School Host Club in 190 countries, and Claymore in 136 countries on September 1.”

The following series will follow after that: The Death Note franchise, the original 1997 Berserk, Parasyte-the-maxim- (which is also slated to get a live-action Korean-drama spin-off series)/), NANA, Hajime no Ippo (a classic boxing anime), and Monster.

This deal is said to be non-exclusive. What that means is that the anime won’t be limited to Netflix’s streaming platform and can stream (or continue to stream) from other platforms. Basically, this anime won’t be stuck in what some call “Netflix jail”.
