Netflix cancels its Resident Evil series after 1 season

Netflix cancelled its Resident Evil series (based on the CAPCOM game series of the same name) after the first season, and honestly, that was a good move.

Despite the fantastic talents of Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker (not going to spoil it, but yes, talentS), and even the bad girl boss character, Evelyn Marcus played by Paola Núñez, this thankfully short series did not hold up very well, at all. The major failing point is, of course, the story. However, the excessive focus of the story on its weakest characters – Wesker’s daughters – and admittedly not the strongest actors in the line-up, made the series much more painful to watch than it should’ve been. The actresses for the adult version of the daughters were much better (and actress Adeline Rudolph just had this aura around her that was something else), their parts were hampered by the overly incredulous and disorderly backstory played out by their younger versions.

I know most people complain about Netflix cancelling shows after one or two seasons, but this one was a well-deserved cancellation. It is such a shame, because there were parts that had promise. I mean, it is based on a very successful video game series after all. I guess video game to film adaptations still fall hard.
