Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy gets another season?
Considering the finality of things in season 3 of The Umbrella Academy, I thought it was done. Apparently, that is not the case. Netflix has renewed it for a 4th and final season.
If you haven’t seen the previous seasons, don’t worry, I won’t spoil it. However, the way things ended in the previous season made it feel like things were… well, over. I don’t keep up with the comics, but apparently the show has departed from the comic’s storyline so much that the authors have publicly referred to the series as a separate entity. So if you’re thinking of looking for clues from the comics as to what direction the story will take, you’re out of luck.
I’ll admit that I had wanted to see more shenanigans from Five (played very well by Aidan Gallagher) and even Lila (Ritu Arya), but I’m not sure how much more mileage the story has left. Will we get the same, repeated doomsday scenario again, or will it focus more on the characters to bring them to an actual finality.
One thing is for sure: this will be the last season and it will end one way or another. Whether it’s a good ending, a bad ending, or a cliffhanger of some sorts (you know, for spin-off possibilities) – well, we’ll have to wait to find out.
