Paprika Live-Action adaptation in the works for Amazon
The novel behind the 2006 Satoshi Kon anime movie, Paprika, will receive a live-action adaptation set to stream on Amazon. According to Deadline, Cathy Yan will executive produce and direct the series.
Paprika is a sci-fi thriller that centers on the ability for people to enter dreams. A research psychologist enters dreams as Paprika in order to investigate cases.
In addition to Parpika, the late Satoshi Kon was known for directing Tokyo Godfathers, Paranoia Agent, Perfect Blue, and Millennium Actress, with him also writing for most of those titles.
Cathy Yan directed Birds of Prey and received an “Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series (Source: Deadline)” for an episode of the series, Succession.
